Fiji & Australia with Herzog Family

We weren't sure how it would be to travel on an International trip with a baby but we did it. Overall we had a great time.We took Kaler to Fiji and Australia from 3/12/08 through 4/9/08. We met up with our friends Shelley and Eric and their daughter Julia on the plane at the LAX airport. It wasn't easy being on a plane with the baby that long. Kaler slept very little on the plane. There are too many things to see and hear for him. Well, all that is past.Kaler and Julia got to interact together a lot. Kaler was about 7 months old and was able to sit up without support but once in a while he would fall backward. Julia was walking every where. Kaler looked at Julia and grunted a lot, we think he probably wanted to go where Julia was going. Kaler got to swim a lot in Fiji. Fijian people are very friendly.

Then our next journey was Sydney, AUS. Kaler got to meet his aunts and uncle for the 1st time.It was pretty hot in Sydney. We couldn't take Kaler out to the beach because it was so hot but Kaler got to hikedown with daddy in the Blue Mountain. AS you see in the picture below Kaler got tired from hiking. :)

President Day Weekend

Grandma Marie was very kind to come help babysit Kaler for almost 2 months while we were waiting to go on our big trip to Fiji and Australia in March.
We decided to head to Canby, OR during the President Day weekend (2/15 - 2/18) to visit The Oakley family. It was the 1st time for Kaler to be in the car ride that long. We had to stop a few times on the way. The only major thing was Kaler pooped in the car and it leaked out onto his onesie. We had to stop at a rest area and changed him into a new outfit.
During this weekend Amy organized a birthday party for Guy. He turned 40 this year!!

I'm six months old now

Updated photos.....

Yummy....Yummy

First time with rice cereal.

First Swimming Lesson (Jan, 2008)

Kaler was only 4.5 months and we thought it was a good idea to take him to a swimming lesson. He was okay being in the swimming pool for the first few lessons but it went down hill.
We think it was too early to introduce Kaler for a swimming lesson at this young.
Okay, we won't torture our 2nd baby. We'll wait a little longer. :)

Kaler’s First Christmas (Dec 25, 2007)

We decided to celebrate Christmas at home and not making any plans. We opened xmas gifts whenever we wanted too. Guy got a few good photos of Kaler with Christmas bib on him. We helped Kaler open his gifts from the Duryee and Oakley families. He enjoyed looking at wrapping paper more than anything. J However it was a long and exhausting hours for Kaler but he held up like a trouper.

Thanksgiving 2007

It was the first time for Kaler to see his cousins Lauryn and Aiden on Thanksgiving Day.
We had a great time visiting Dirk and Caryn. Aiden is such a happy boy.
Okay look at Aiden’s eyes and Kaler’s eyes…..LOL.

Kaler’s First Halloween Look

Grandma Aun had a great idea for Kaler’s Halloween costume…..Homemade Pamelo Crown!!! We all laughed so hard when he had this on. Although he won’t have any memories of it. What a grate idea mom!

First Time with Baby Bottle

Breast feeding wasn’t going well for me and Kaler (and Guy). We all visited the lactation consultant many times. It was very stressful time for all of us. We had to do finger/tube/syringe feeding. It was amazing for a baby only a few days old, Kaler could create an unbelievable amount of sucking-pressure on my finger. His suction was so strong that pulling my finger out of his mouth was very difficult.
Well, all that past and, we decided to introduce Kaler his 1st bottle feeding. He had a look on his face for sure when he had the bottle nipple in his mouth. Luckily he was not a picky baby. He took it any way.

Meet Kaler at 7 Weeks

First professional photo shots by Carmen Chan http://www.carmenchanphotography.com/
Kaler had a curious look on his face most of the time. It wasn’t easy taking baby photos but Carmen did an excellent job. At the end of the session we got many great pictures of Kaler.
