First au pair for Kaler (4/18/08 – 7/25/08)
Guy and I decided to get an au pair and we went with the program called aupaircare.com. We chose a girl from Thailand, her name is Joy (Duangkamon Sairot). We picked her up at the airport on April 17, 2008. It took a few days for Kaler to warm up to her. Joy was great with Kaler.
Unfortunately, Joy’s dad has a serious health issue that made her decide to go home. We enjoyed having her here and we can tell Kaler loves her too.
Joy, we hope the best for your dad and your family. We miss you a lot.

Beautiful Quilt from Auntie Darchelle
Once we got back from our trip, we received a package from Darchelle. It was a beautiful quilt for Kaler. It's so pretty that mommy decided to hang it up in Kaler's room instead of letting him uses it. Well, he'll get to use it when he's a little bit older and be appreciated more. It took Auntie Darchelle 6 weeks to work on this quilt. Thank you so much Auntie Darchelle, from Kaler.

Fiji & Australia with Herzog Family
We weren't sure how it would be to travel on an International trip with a baby but we did it. Overall we had a great time.We took Kaler to Fiji and Australia from 3/12/08 through 4/9/08. We met up with our friends Shelley and Eric and their daughter Julia on the plane at the LAX airport. It wasn't easy being on a plane with the baby that long. Kaler slept very little on the plane. There are too many things to see and hear for him. Well, all that is past.Kaler and Julia got to interact together a lot. Kaler was about 7 months old and was able to sit up without support but once in a while he would fall backward. Julia was walking every where. Kaler looked at Julia and grunted a lot, we think he probably wanted to go where Julia was going. Kaler got to swim a lot in Fiji. Fijian people are very friendly.
Then our next journey was Sydney, AUS. Kaler got to meet his aunts and uncle for the 1st time.It was pretty hot in Sydney. We couldn't take Kaler out to the beach because it was so hot but Kaler got to hikedown with daddy in the Blue Mountain. AS you see in the picture below Kaler got tired from hiking. :)

President Day Weekend
Grandma Marie was very kind to come help babysit Kaler for almost 2 months while we were waiting to go on our big trip to Fiji and Australia in March.
We decided to head to Canby, OR during the President Day weekend (2/15 - 2/18) to visit The Oakley family. It was the 1st time for Kaler to be in the car ride that long. We had to stop a few times on the way. The only major thing was Kaler pooped in the car and it leaked out onto his onesie. We had to stop at a rest area and changed him into a new outfit.
During this weekend Amy organized a birthday party for Guy. He turned 40 this year!!
